9. I was worried about situations where I might panic and make a fool of myself.

10. I felt that I had nothing to look forward to.

11. I found myself getting agitated.

12. I found it difficult to relax.

13. I felt downhearted and blue.

14. I was intolerant of anything that kept me from getting on with what I was doing.

15. I felt I was close to panic.

16. I was unable to become enthusiastic about anything.

17. I felt I wasn’t worth much as a person.

18. I felt that I was rather touchy.

19. I was aware of the action of my heart in the absence of physical exertion.

20. I felt scared without any good reason.

How Does DASS 21 Depression Anxiety Stress Scale Test Work?

The DASS 21 calculator is a straightforward and effective way to assess your mental health by evaluating your levels of depression, anxiety, and stress over the past week. The anxiety calculator consists of 21 statements, and you will respond to each one based on how much it applies to you.


The 21 statements are divided equally into three subscales, with seven questions each focusing on depression, anxiety, and stress. Each subscale receives a score ranging from 0 to 21.

  • Depression Subscale: This part of the test assesses dysphoria, hopelessness, devaluation of life, self-deprecation, and other related symptoms.
  • Anxiety Subscale: This evaluates autonomic arousal, skeletal muscle effects, situational anxiety, and subjective experiences of anxious affect.
  • Stress Subscale: It measures difficulty relaxing, nervous arousal, and being easily upset or agitated.

DASS-21 Scoring Instructions

In the DASS 21 calculator assessment, each question is assigned a score ranging from 0 to 3. The DASS 21 calculator evaluation indeed includes three key dimensions: depression, anxiety, and stress reactions. In the depression calculator, respondents typically select from four answer choices to indicate the frequency or intensity of their experiences.

  • Never: Indicating the statement did not apply at all, receiving 0 points.

  • Often: Signifying a notable degree of association or frequent experience, resulting in 2 points.
  • Almost always: Denoting a significant presence or consistent occurrence, accruing 3 points.

Each dimension receives a cumulative score ranging between 0 and 18 to 24, depending on the number of questions allocated (refer to the section above for details).
