Aadhar and PAN are important documents required for term insurance.
A life insurance policy is one of the most important covers you require to secure the financial well-being of your loved ones. The policy pays death or maturity benefits to your nominees when a claim is approved by the insurance company. There are many documents required for insurance, and Aadhar and PAN are among the most important ones.
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI) has made it mandatory for all policyholders to link the insurance plan with their Aadhar and PAN. According to the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017, linking the Aadhar and PAN is essential to avail of financial services.
If you want to know how to link Aadhar to an insurance policy, the following instructions will help you. The process is different for registered and non-registered users.
1. Visit the insurance company’s website and log-in
2. Find the option to link Aadhar and provide your Aadhar details
3. Verify that the details are accurate before submitting
4. Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number on the insurer’s website to complete the process
1.Visit the insurance company’s website
2.Provide details of your PAN, policy number, date of birth, contact information, and Aadhar number
3.Remember the OTP, which you receive on your registered mobile number after entering the Aadhar number
4.Enter the OTP on the website to verify and complete the process
The documents required for life insurance or any other form of insurance policy can be submitted offline as well. The steps to link your Aadhar with insurance policies offline are:
1.Visit the insurance company’s nearest branch office
2.Carry the original Aadhar card and a self-attested copy
3.Submit the documents to the concerning insurance officer
4.Once verified, the Aadhar number will be linked to your insurance policies
The documents required for term insurance or any other policy to be linked with Aadhar are:
1.The 12-digit Aadhar number
2.PAN card, Form 61, or Form 60
You must be aware that each time you make a payment of more than INR 50,000, the PAN card, Form 61, or Form 60 has to be submitted.
The above steps are to be completed accurately in order to link insurance with Aadhar and to continue taking benefit of the insurance-related services. For now, there is no particular deadline for linking Aadhar with insurance, but it is advised that you complete the process at the earliest.
