Buying health insurance is all about choosing the one which is the best for you so read this article to understand which is better health insurance with or without medical tests.
From eating right to hitting the gyms, we take all the necessary measures for our health and wellbeing. However, with our fast-paced and ever-evolving lives, maintaining a healthy lifestyle becomes challenging. While being meticulous in planning our daily diet and workout regimes sound ideal, health-related emergencies or illnesses with us or our loved ones can never be predicted. In such circumstances, our topmost priority is to be there for our family, supporting and taking care of each other, instead of worrying about the holes that the expensive bills dig in our pockets.
When we lookout for opportunities to prevent exhausting our entire savings on medical bills, the one solution that stands out is health insurance. It is a health cover that pays for our medical expenses. Such fees include doctor’s consultation charges, surgery expenses, hospitalization costs, bills for medication, etc. Sometimes, a health plan also includes dental costs. However, we do not only want to protect ourselves but also our loved ones. To achieve this, health insurance policies prove to be highly beneficial.
From a child health insurance plan to health insurance for parents or spouse, we have multiple options to opt for depending on our needs.
There are certain formalities like filling up the proposal/registration form, submitting the required documents, etc., that we have to follow when buying a health insurance plan. One of these formalities that most people shy away from is a pre-policy medical checkup. The medical tests that are required include ECG, measurement of blood pressure, blood serum test, lipid profile, blood sugar, complete blood count, etc. These tests are required before securing health insurance to rule out the possibility of a medical emergency arising due to any pre-existing health conditions. It allows us to be aware of all health-related risks before buying the policy.
Age plays a significant role in determining the need of medical assistance. Therefore, insurers demand for medical checkups while offering policies to individuals beyond a certain age limit. During the age of 18-45 years, the likelihood of falling sick is low, thus most health plans come without a mandatory medical test. However, it is usually a prerequisite for those above the age of 45 or when the cover we ask for is considerably high.
Yes, it is, however, not all plans mandate a health checkup. It seems like an extra effort to get a medical test done for a multitude of reasons: we might be completely healthy, we might feel anxious about sharing our medical reports, it adds on to an extra cost etc. To reduce this inhibition, many insurers have now resorted to offering health insurance with no medical exam. They have taken the alternative path where we can directly connect with the doctor and discuss our medical history, allowing a more detailed discussion and reducing the cost of the medical test.
There’s no denying that getting insurance without medical tests can be easier and hassle-free. Medical insurance without medical test in India are now being offered by many companies. Though, this makes applying for the policy easier and saves us the cost of pre-policy checkups, we should remember that such policies offer lower cover, while the premium may be higher. Not disclosing complete information can not only be deemed as a fraud but may also lead to paying heavily later. During the pre-policy medical checkup, if we are diagnosed with any pre-existing condition, we get to know in detail about exclusions and waiting periods about the condition. So, though it might lead us to pay a slightly higher premium, it is worth it in the end.
Buying health insurance is all about choosing the one which is the best for you. But do remember, it is always better to pay a higher premium and get coverage instead of saving a few pennies today and getting the claim rejected later!
