In the bustling city of Mumbai, in the middle of the towering skyscrapers and the constant hum of life, lived a man named Rajesh Gupta. Fondly known as Mr. Gupta among his colleagues and friends, he had spent the better part of his life working diligently as a middle-level manager in a reputable firm. And for me, I am one of his friends, Suraj.
As I sit down with Mr. Gupta in his cosy apartment overlooking the city skyline, he begins to talk about his journey, and share his experience about investing in a retirement portfolio. “I was born and raised in a small town in Uttar Pradesh,” he starts, his voice shaded with nostalgia. “My parents inculcated in me the values of hard work and determination. With their blessings, I moved to Mumbai in search of better opportunities.”
Mr. Gupta worked tirelessly, climbing the corporate ladder with unwavering determination. He got married to his college sweetheart, Priya, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. However, among the chaos of everyday life, he never quite found the time to plan for his retirement.
“I always thought there would be plenty of time to think about retirement,” Mr. Gupta admits with a regretful smile. “But as the years flew by, retirement seemed like a distant dream, something I would worry about later.”
Despite his steady income, Mr. Gupta never considered investing in a retirement plan. He believed that his savings and pension would be sufficient to support him in his golden years. Little did he know the harsh reality that awaited him.
And so, with this, we bid farewell to Mr. Gupta. For now, we leave him standing at the height of a new chapter in his life, unaware of the challenges and regrets that lay ahead.
