Checking the status of your Aadhaar card in India is a simple process that can be done both online and offline. But how to go ahead with it? Let us find out about it here.
The Aadhaar Card, issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is a vital document that serves as proof of identity and address for Indian citizens. It contains a unique 12-digit Aadhaar number, which is essential for various governmental and financial transactions.
Once you apply for an Aadhaar Card, you can track its status online or offline to know when it will be ready for collection. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to check your Aadhaar Card status through both online and offline methods.
Checking your Aadhaar Card status online is a quick and convenient process. You need a computer or smartphone with an internet connection to follow these steps:
Step 1: Start by visiting the official UIDAI website at https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: Click on “Check Aadhaar Status” - On the UIDAI website’s home page, look for the “Check Aadhaar Status” option and click on it.
Step 3: Enter Enrollment Details - You will be redirected to a new page where you need to enter your 14-digit enrollment number and the date and time of enrollment. These details are mentioned on the acknowledgement slip given to you at the time of Aadhaar enrollment.
Step 4: Enter the Security Code - On the same page, you will see a security code. Type the characters displayed in the box for verification purposes.
Step 5: Click on “Check Status” - Once you have entered all the required details, click on the “Check Status” button.
Step 6: View Aadhaar Card Status - After clicking the button, the Aadhaar update status will be displayed on the screen. It will show whether your Aadhaar Card has been generated or dispatched or if there is any other status update.
If you do not have access to the internet or prefer offline methods, you can check your Aadhaar Card status by contacting UIDAI through phone or post:
Step 1: Call UIDAI’s Toll-Free Number - Dial 1947, which is UIDAI’s toll-free number. Keep your enrollment number and date/time of enrollment ready.
Step 2: Follow IVR Instructions - Listen carefully to the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system’s instructions and select the option to check your Aadhaar Card status.
Step 3: Enter Enrollment Details - Provide your 14-digit enrollment number and the date and time of enrollment when prompted by the IVR.
Step 4: Receive Status Information - After entering the required details, you will receive information regarding your Aadhaar Card’s status.
Step 1: Write a Letter - Compose a letter addressing UIDAI requesting the status of your Aadhaar Card. Include your 14-digit enrollment number and the date and time of enrollment in the letter.
